Texas Business Mission to China

10 day trip to Beijing, Xian, Shanghai, and Suzhou

Objectives:

1.     To help Texas companies explore business relationships with commercial partners in these fast growing cities.

2.     To promote Texas as the world-class high-tech state to China.

May 21,  2002 (Tuesday)      

Delegation leaves Texas in the morning. Flight to Beijing

 

May 22, 2002 (Wednesday)              Beijing   MU 584 LAX/PEK  O5:40 pm Arrival

Arrive in Beijing in the evening. Check into hotel.

 

May 23, 2002 (Thursday)                  Beijing  

9:00 am Visit United State Ambassador The Honorable Clark Randt

10:00 – 11:00 pm     Visit Chinese Government Leaders

12:00  pm Lunch

Afternoon 4:00 pm : Texas delegation will attend 5th Annual International High Tech Week Opening

                                    Ceremony.

                   6:00 PM Dinner

                  

Over 800,000 people from home and abroad flocked to the spot at the 4th session last year. Over 800 contracts were signed during this event in 2001, involving a total volume of business of US$ 7.9 billion, an increase of 31.52 percent over that of the 3rd session in 2000. Delegation members will have business meetings, and exhibitors will have the opportunity to promote their products to at least 2,000 companies from 45 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the central government in China.

 

Optional program for companions: Forbidden City

Stroll to Tiananmen Square, known as the Gate of Heavenly Peace, which is renowned for the many historic events that took place there. The next stop is the Forbidden City, the largest imperial palace ever built in the world

                 10:00 am China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) Chairman

                Attend 5th Annual International High Tech Week  exhibition

 Afternoon:  2:30 – 4:00 pm Texas Presentation and B2B meetings with Chinese business men.

 Tonight’s dinner is a taste of real Peking Duck.

Optional program for companions: Great Wall

7:00 am : Here is your chance to climb the Great Wall of China! This wonder of the world, built 2,600 years ago was one of the two man-made structures seen by U.S. astronaut Neil Armstrong from outer space.

 

5:00  pm Meeting with Governor of Shaanxi Province (Briefing) and industrial leaders Shaanxi Province

7:00 pm Dinner

 

May 26, 2002 (Sunday)                     Xian

9:00 am Visit Mayor of Xian

10:00 Shanxi Economic Development

11:00 – 2:00  pm Lunch and B- B meetings

2:00 pm visit Xian High-Tech Industry Zone, one of the mainland’s 53 state-level high-tech industrial development zones, which developed 2,800 high-tech enterprises and over 400 foreign enterprises in the past 8 years. B2B meetings will be arranged for specific enterprises.

7:00 pm Dinner

 

Optional program for companions:  Terra-Cotta Warriors

2:00  pm – 6:00 pm

Xian, the cradle of Chinese civilization, was the state capital for 73 emperors spanning 11 dynasties for 1,100 years dating from 4000 BC. Full day excursion to the Terra Cotta Warriors  -- one part of the tomb of first Emperor of China, Qinshihuang, who was also the initiator of the Great Wall. For dinner, feast on numerous varieties of dumplings.

Visit PuDong Zhangjinag Hi-Tech Zone and B2B meetings in the afternoon.

 

At night enjoy the world famous Chinese Acrobatics show.

 9:00 am Visit Mayor of Shanghai

 11:00 am B2B meetings, city tour in Shanghai and a brief overview on the biggest commercial city in China.

 

 

May 29, 2002 (Wednesay)                Shanghai-SuZhou-Shanghai               by Bus

Visit Suzhou New Development Zone.

El Paso Energy power plant, or AMD plant.

B2B meetings later on.

Farewell dinner party at famous food street in Shanghai

 

Optional program for companions: Ancient garden and Silk Museum

Have an hour ride to an ancient garden city where you can find a town full of life: bridges, water and family.

 

 

May 30, 2002 (Thursday)                  Shanghai/USA    

Morning free time and 12:00N the guider will meet you in the hotel lobby to transfer you to Pudong airport catch flight MU 583    PVG/LAX   0300PM    for return flight to Texas.
