Overview:
Pakistan has gone through a rash of recent political changes. The new Resident, Asif Ali Zardari, has made it a primary point of the new government to invest extensively in power generation. Their new initiatives will focus on hydro, alternate sources and clean coal in addition to oil and gas. This emerging market offers tremendous opportunities to Texas energy companies to seek new business and form joint ventures. The Consul General in his Keynote speech will discuss in detail this growth and also the start of an new era in terms of Pakistan-U.S.Trade.

Pakistan is one of the fastest growing economies in South Asia, growing an annual rate of over 7% in last 7 years.This high growth has increased demand for electrical and fossil fuel energy.Mohammad Aqil Nadeem, Consul General joined the Consulate of Pakistan, Houston in November 2007. Prior to his present assignment, he served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Islamabad as Director General (2005-2007). He joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 1984 and held various diplomatic assignments at the Pakistan Missions aboard. He has also worked in various positions for the United Nations including Political Affairs Officer from 1999-2004. Mr. Nadeem holds a master degree in International Relations
