Dear Sponsors and Community Leaders:With 2008 Summer Olympic fast approaching, and on behalf of the
Olympic fans living in Northern California, I am excited to inform
you an upcoming event to celebrate the Olympics in Sacramento.
On behalf of the California Exposition and State Fair, KCRA Channel 3
(an NBC television affiliate), and numerous Sacramento Community and
Cultural organizations, we wanted to inform you about an Olympic
Opening Ceremonies viewing event, that will take place on Friday,
August 8 in Sacramento, the Capitol City of California.
One Night, One World
Sacramento Celebrates Diversity with the Beijing Summer Olympics
2008 Olympics Opening Ceremonies Viewing Party
Friday, August 8, 2008
5:30pm to 11:00pm
Cal Expo Sports & Satellite Wagering Facility
Sacramento, CA
Open to Public, Admission FREE
The main objective of the event is to provide an opportunity for the
Sacramento community to celebrate the commencement of the Beijing
Olympics by watching a live broadcast of the Opening Ceremonies in a
unique outdoor venue. The opening ceremonies present a wonderful
opportunity for us to celebrate the cultural diversity of the greater
Sacramento area while highlighting how that diversity is reflected in
the Olympics.
The viewing event will be both non-political and non-commercial -- it
is being spearheaded by a group of volunteers whose sole purpose is
to celebrate the Olympics and its proud legacy. Please see attached
event flyer for details.
The Cal Expo venue can comfortably accommodate as many as 10,000
Olympic fans. We will also invite any former Olympic athletes who
live in the area to come and share their Olympic experiences with
us. This will be a festive celebration and a great family event.
Families can come together on this ˇ°hot Augustˇ± Friday night;
enjoy international cuisine, multi-cultural performances, and the
company of thousands of Olympic fans. Viewers will watch the Opening
Ceremonies broadcast locally on KCRA Channel 3. The station is very
proud to help kick-off this Olympic celebration for Northern
California viewers with this large scale viewing party.
As one can imagine, this is a significant undertaking and will be the
first of its kind in Sacramento. To help make this ˇ°dreamˇ±
possible, we ask for your generous support and sponsorship.
Please see attached sponsorship form for donation details, if you are
able to contribute, please complete the attached Sponsorship Form and
return it with your check (payable to Sacraemtno Olympic Event C/O
APAPA-CEF) and mail it to: 185 Butcher Road, Vacaville, CA 95687.
Since this event is put together by volunteers, all donation will be
used to fund the operation and administrative cost of the event such
as event flyers, equipment rentals, promotional efforts.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your generosity and
participation in this historic endeavor will be greatly appreciated.
