HOUSTON – Tracye McDaniel, Partnership Executive Vice President and COO, has been appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry to the Advisory Board of Economic Development Stakeholders. McDaniel is one of three governor-appointed members to the board that will assist the Office of the Governor Economic Development and Tourism division by collecting and disseminating information on federal, state, local and private community economic development programs. “Our goal is to find the best programs and initiatives available out there such as loans, grants and other funding sources,” explained McDaniel. “We are going to access those resources and figure out how to best implement them in order to help create economic development in Texas and our region.” The Advisory Board’s mission is in line with Opportunity HoustonSM, the Partnership’s aggressive five-year marketing program that will generate leads for economic development organizations throughout the 10-county Houston region.
In addition to McDaniel’s overall operational duties for the Partnership, she is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Economic Development Corporation, past executive director of the Governor's Division of Economic Development and Tourism and past CEO of the Texas Economic Development Corporation’s TexasOne Program, a public/private partnership marketing initiative to generate job leads by actively promoting Texas as a business location. She is a regent for Texas Southern University; serves as chair-emeritus of the board for the Capital City African-American Chamber of Commerce; honorary chairwoman of the capital fundraising campaign for the Buffalo Soldiers National Museum; board member of the Houston Greeters; board member of Center for Houston’s Future; and board member for the United Way of Houston.
McDaniel replaces Trinidad Mendenhall of Houston for a term to expire Sept. 1, 2009. Other appointees include Alejandro (Alex) Meade III of Brownsville and Gary Fickes of Southlake.
